Aim: To prepare, evaluate and submit Herbal Face Scrub.
Requirements: Beakers, Water bath, Stirrer and Suitable container.
Chemicals: Orange peel powder, Kaolin, Bentonite, Cetyl alcohol, Sodium lauryl sulphate, Glycerine, Preservative, Lemone oil, Aloe vera juice and Water.
Formulation Consideration: The herbal face scrub is a water-soluble preparation containing powdery particles that remove dead skin when rubbed with the palm. It is used by applying the product on the skin and massaging it onto the skin. Then it is allowed to remain on the skin for 10-15 minutes and removed with the help of water. They are formulated in a non-drying vehicle.
Absorbent clays like bentonite kaolin present in the formulation produce a cleansing effect. When added to the such formulation, Humectants like glycerin act as a plasticizer, and emollient. Ingredients like orange peel powder are mainly used for their efficient cleansing action and it also acts as an astringent.
Sodium lauryl sulphate is mainly used as soap former because when face scrub is removed by gentle washing provides soap formation. Cetyl alcohol is a good stabilizer of the cream, acts as an emollient, and improves stability.
Aloe vera juice is used for a soothing effect.

Procedure:
- Mix orange peel powder, kaolin, Bentonite, Sodium lauryl sulphate, glycerin, aloe vera juice, Methylparaben and water in a beaker.
- In another beaker heat cetyl alcohol in a water bath till it melts. Heat the powder mixed with water up to the same temperature.
- Add the molten cetyl alcohol to this with stirring. Keep stirring after removing from the water bath till 45°C temperature is attained.
- Add Lemon oil and keep stirring till room temperature is attained.
Label: For external use only.
Storage: Store in a cool dry place.
Packaging: In a collapsible tube of different sizes.
Use: Removes dead skin particles, cleanses, hydrates and exfoliates the skin.
Directions: Squeeze a small quantity on the palm and gently massage onto the face and neck in a circular motion. Leave for 2-3 minutes and rinse thoroughly
