Aim: To prepare and submit 100 ml of Kaolin mixture.
Requirements: Mortar and pestle, Beaker, Glass rod, Light kaolin, Light magnesium carbonate, Sodium bicarbonate, and Peppermint emulsion.
Theory: Mixtures are liquid oral preparations meant for internal or external use which contain medicament either dissolved or dispersed or suspended. In a kaolin mixture kaolin is a suspending agent. Peppermint emulsion is the vehicle as well as a flavoring agent. Sodium carbonate is an antacid and magnesium carbonate is a drying agent.
Formula:

| Light kaolin | 2 gm |
| Magnesium carbonate | 0.5 gm |
| Sodium bicarbonate | 0.5 gm |
| Peppermint emulsion | 100 ml |
Procedure:
- Mix all the insoluble materials (magnesium carbonate, light kaolin, sodium carbonate) in a pestle and mortar.
- Take three fourth of the vehicle (peppermint emulsion) and add it to the above mixture.
- Triturate and prepare a paste.
- After the paste is prepared, make up the volume up to 100 ml with peppermint emulsion.
Category: Antidiarrheal.
Storage: Store in a well-closed container and keep in a cool place.
