Aim: To prepare and submit Sulphur ointment.
Requirements: Precipitated sulphur, simple ointment, etc.
Theory: Ointments are semi-solid preparations meant for external application to the skin or mucous membrane. They usually contain a medicament or medicaments dissolved, suspended or emulsified in the base.
Formula:
| Ingredients | Standard formula |
| Precipitated sulphur | 10 g |
| Simple ointment | 90 g |
Procedure:
- Weigh accurately all the ingredients.
- Triturate the precipitated sulphur with a portion of the simple ointment until smooth.
- Add gradually the remainder of the simple ointment and mix thoroughly.
Category: Scabicide.
Storage: Preserve in a well-closed container, and protect from light.
