Aim: To prepare and submit Simple linctus.
Requirements: Concentrated anise water, amaranth solution, citric acid monohydrate, chloroform spirit, syrup, etc.
Theory: Linctuses are viscous, liquid, oral preparations that are usually prescribed for the relief of cough. Linctuses are used for the treatment of cough.
Formula:
Ingredients | Standard formula |
Concentrated anise water | 3 g |
Amaranth solution | 1.5 ml |
Citric acid monohydrate | 2.5 ml |
Chloroform spirit | 6 ml |
Syrup, up to | 100 ml |
Procedure:
- Weigh anise water and pour into a beaker.
- Separately dissolve the citric acid monohydrate in chloroform spirit.
- Mix these two solutions.
- Add an amaranth solution.
- Add a sufficient quantity of syrup to produce 100 ml.
Category: Carminative and mild expectorant.
Storage: Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
Labeling: TO BE SIPPED AND SWALLOWED SLOWLY WITHOUT ADDING WATER
