Assay: Weigh accurately about 1.0 g, dissolve in 25 mL of water, and titrate with 1 M hydrochloric acid using methyl orange solution as indicator.
Reaction:
Na2CO3 + 2HCl → 2NaCl + H2CO3
H2CO3 → H2O + CO2
Factor Calculation:
2 Moles of HCl ≅ 1 Mole of sodium carbonate
2000 mL of 1M HCl ≅ 105.9 g of
Na2CO3 1 mL of 1M HCl ≅ 0.05299g of Na2CO3
