Assay: Weigh accurately 0.5 g of probenecid sample in 100 mL of (95%) ethanol. Shake well and heat gently in a water bath if necessary to dissolve the drug. Cool and titrate with 0.1M sodium hydroxide using bromothymol blue as an indicator. The endpoint will be yellow to blue. Carry out a blank titration.
