Aim: To prepare and submit 100 gm of zinc oxide ointment.
Requirements: Zinc oxide, Starch, simple ointment, etc
Theory: Ointments are semi-solid preparations meant for external application to the skin or mucous membrane. They usually contain a medicament or medicaments dissolved, suspended, or emulsified in the base.
Formula:

| Zinc oxide | 15 g |
| Simple ointment | 85 g |
Procedure:
- Weigh accurately all the ingredients.
- Triturate zinc oxide with a portion of the simple ointment until smooth.
- Gradually add simple ointment sufficient to produce 100 g.
Category: Astringent, Antiseptic, and protective.
Storage: Preserve in a well-closed container, and protect from light.
